  • Thank you for asking this question! While we have never had any safety incidents, we do like to ensure our volunteers are briefed on some guidelines prior to attending.

  • If you’re interested in providing the FOOD, we just need you to follow our sign up process.

    Please ensure that you sign-up so we can ensure we’re able to cover all dates and there aren’t any scheduling mishaps.

  • Yes, we are so blessed that we are booked out a few months in advance. So if you would like to sign up to bring the meal, it will likely be a few months in the future.

    If you’re super excited to get involved sooner rather than later, you can provide help other than bringing the meal that is just as appreciated and impactful. Click here to learn more about the different opportunities to help out HSM!

  • The basic makeup of the meal is a protein, a vegetable, a starch and a drink. You are welcome to include dessert and/or extra snacks, but not required.

    A few suggested meals that have been successful include; fried chicken, taco bars, hoagies, cookouts, pulled pork sandwiches, meatball sandwiches, chili, chicken casserole. Some side dishes that are easy to make and transport include; pasta salad, potato salad and fruit cups. Carbonated beverages are a treat and we suggest you avoid apples as many have dental issues.

  • Currently, we are asking groups to bring enough food to feed 100 people.

  • HSM Provided: We provide tables, gloves, trash bags and hand sanitizer. In the cold months, we will also bring hot coffee, cups and all the fixings.

    Volunteer Provided: We ask that our meal volunteers bring the food, to go containers (all meals are served to-go) serving utensils, napkins, drinks.

  • While we understand why we get this question, it’s not something we can answer as we aren’t tracking weekly meals. If somehow the same meal gets provided week-over-week, that’s ok. We’re confident that the meals will still be delicious, appreciated and needed. If you need any ideas on what to bring, check out the previous FAQ!

  • We welcome groups of any size. We have served with groups as small as four adults and groups as large as 50+ student athletes.

  • We ask that you arrive at 11:40 AM for a time of instruction and prayer. We serve until 1 PM.

  • Yes, we can work with whatever size you have. We welcome groups of any size. We have served with groups as small as four adults and groups as large as 50+ student athletes. We’d love to help your group (organization, corporate, school, church, etc) come together to help the community!

    Just email us at harveststreetmission@gmail.com if you have a large group and we can make sure that we can accommodate.

    • We serve rain, shine, sleet or snow. Please ensure you dress for the weather as we’ll be outside in the elements.

    • While you would certainly not be required to do so, we recommend you leave valuables (jewelry) and any special or expensive clothing at home.

    • If you are a woman, when choosing what to wear, be conscious that we are serving mostly men and potentially there could be sexual predators in the general area.

  • There are volunteer opportunities that a solo person can sign up for (i.e. non-food), click here to sign-up as a Sunday volunteer. If you require any special paperwork on the hours served, please ensure you either bring you paperwork the day you serve or we can send to you electronically (you’ll need to request by emailing harveststreetmission@gmail.com).

  • We are happy to have student volunteers and are able to provide service hour documentation. There are volunteer opportunities that a solo person can sign up for (i.e. non-food), click here to sign-up as a Sunday volunteer. If you require any special paperwork on the hours served, please ensure you either bring you paperwork the day you serve or we can send to you electronically (you’ll need to request by emailing harveststreetmission@gmail.com).

    We also ask that you review the safety guidelines so that all students are prepared coming into their volunteering.

  • Absolutely not. You are welcome to bring items such as gently, used clothing, shoes, bedding, and personal care items. But it is not expected nor required.

    If you have non-seasonal items however, we can always find a way to hold onto them and disburse at a more appropriate time.

  • We are not affiliated with a particular church, but we partner with many organizations, including churches, athletic teams, neighborhoods, small groups, corporate organizations, other religious organizations, and other community groups.

  • Many of our guests do, in fact, live, either on the streets, in a tent, or in a shelter. Some of our guest, however, live in apartments and low income housing of sorts.
